Hit Me On My iPhone:
The long story is this, I got an iPhone about two weeks after they came out. I'm not the type to get all mushy about a piece of technology but it done changed my life. (If you don't know, then you better borrow your cousin's and check it out. I'm not gonna go on a whole tangent but messing around with an iPhone is like reaching into the future and hanging out with super attractive aliens at a hot party...or something.) About a month after I got it, I was asked to fly to L.A. to actually be in an iPhone commercial. You know, the ones with the "regular" person standing in front of the black background? Right! Well, I was getting all excited to go out there and this real stupid song popped into my head. As you may know, I'm a hip hop artist so of course I think, "why not record the thing?" about a day later it's recorded. Then I think, "why not recut the iPhone guy lipsyncing my song?" That's where Arrow and Merritt hooked me up. Arrow's like the Wolf from Pulp Fiction. If George Bush knew Arrow, this whole Iraq business would be sewn up by now. Anyway, Arrow made some calls, tracked down Merritt and Merritt worked his delicate fingers to the bone crafting this exquisite piece of art. We're pretty sure we have about two weeks before Apple threatens to break our kneecaps so enjoy it while it lasts:
Planet Bboy:
I don't know when it will hit theaters. I don't know where it will be showing. All I know is I spent most of December making music for a new documentary film called Planet Bboy and it's hot hot hot! My music is not in this trailer but here's a sneak peek:
Bacardi:
Ah, yes, Bacardi! For those of you who still remember the Bacardi commercial that featured my music, the full length song is still on the way (see below if you don't know what I'm talking about). The good folks at Bacardi have to iron out some legal stuff before we can drop the full length song. Sorry for the LONG wait. You'll be able to take a breath again soon!

PETE/JIN/BARACK:
If you haven't already heard the word, I'm working with the most accomplished battle mc of all time, Jin! He also happens to be one of the most down to earth and creative people I've met in the hip hop game, period. We're chipping away at his new album, "The Voice" which is slated for release later this year. I'm producing and engineering most of the album as well as guest mcing on a song or two.
The first song that we completed for the album is called "Open Letter 2 Obama." Jin came to me early in the recording process and told me how much he was feeling U.S. Senator Barack Obama. We talked about writing a song TO Barack Obama to express our support. The result is "Open Letter 2 Obama." It should be stated that Jin has never voted before. He's new to caring about politics. We did massive amounts of research to learn about Obama, his policies and approach to politics. We are genuine supporters of Barack Obama for president. We hope he wins the Democratic primary and helps lead the country out of the divisive place we now find ourselves in.
For that reason, when the Obama campaign asked if they could use our song for their campaign purposes, we agreed! In the very near future, you will be able to download "Open Letter 2 Obama" as a cell phone ring tone and hear it in Obama in '08 campaign videos! Visit www.barackobama.com to sign up for updates and information. And don't forget to register to vote!!
DOUBLETIME:
I'm a little late in posting this but I'm very proud of my involvement with a new documentary film called Doubletime. It was directed by first time director, Stephanie Johnes and will be distributed by Discovery Films. The movie follows two championship double dutch jump rope teams as they make their way to the world famous Apollo Theater for the international double dutch competition. The film is inspiring and the sport of double dutch is mind blowing for it's grace and acrobatics. Doubletime is currently making it's rounds of the film festivals. Check it out if you get a chance. (And stay for the credits so you can hear the jammin' double dutch anthem "Pick 'Em Up" by Pete Miser!

The Main Scoop:
We're in the final stretch of 2006. The holidays are upon us and winter is trying to sneak up on New Yorkers like a hungry car jacker! I remain buried in the studio experimenting with new sounds for my next record. Hopefully it will surface in early 2007.
You might be checking out this site because you heard me on WNYC discussing sampling with John Schaefer and Jon Price. If so, welcome! I've always hoped that I would one day be interviewed on WNYC. Now it has finally come to pass.
You may be thinking it's strange that a hip hop artist would be so into WNYC. All I can say is, have you listened to hip hop radio recently? Somehow, commercial hip hop has become a creative wasteland over the past few years and the radio stations that play it are pure, unadulterated hype. I can't tell the difference between the music, the commentary or the advertisements. And these aren't the complaints of some old man who doesn't get what the kids are doing these days. Hip hop is alive and strong. It's hip hop radio that's dying an ugly death.
So with that, I'm excited to get down with WNYC where listeners actually learn something from the broadcasts and where the hosts don't assume that their audience is ignorant and shallow. Maybe if more people turned their dials to public radio, commercial radio stations would be forced to offer a little more depth and diversity.
Holla back!

The Main Scoop:
People are wondering what's up with Pete Miser. A young fan in Oklahoma writes, "Pete hasn't posted anything on his website since April. Is he still alive?" A ladies volleyball team from San Diego declares, "Pete Miser is our favorite rapper. We need a hug! Where is he?" A meth-head in Oregon wonders aloud, "has Pete retired?"
The answer to everyone is simple, I'm recording a new album, yo!
This summer has been all about travel, living life and processing it all in song form. For a slow-typing cat like me, that means not so much time spent in front of a computer screen. My apologies to the four people out there who daily check PeteMiser.com for news (especially you, Mom.)
That said, I have no idea when this new album will be done and released. All I can say for now is it's gonna be heat! Check here and myspace for the sneak previews as they develop.
With that said, here is some interesting news:
Thursday, October 19th 6:00 PM
Sunday October 20th at 2PM
The video for Scent Of A Robot will be showing at the Museum Of Modern Art in New York. Thursday's showing will include a discussion with UVPH, the makers of the video. For more information, go here: MOMA.org

- Myspace vs PeteMiser.com
Comrades...
Thanks for checking PeteMiser.com. I've been busy in the studio working on new tracks and hustling in the grimy underbelly of the bi-coastal hip hop scene. Currently in my headphones? Boom Bap Project from Seattle/Portland. Check their album if you haven't already. Can you say SKILLZ?
For a good Pete Miser fix, listen to Imaginasian Radio this Sunday night at 9:00 PM EST. I will be in the "iaList" show playing some of my new music and answering probing questions like, "where'd you get that drum machine?" and "do I look fat in these pants?" Details are in the dates section of this very website.
If you need visual with your audio, check out MTVChi in May. I'll be a featured artist on thier profile show and hosting their video countdown early in the month. Check back here for more information or go to www.mtvchi.com to check their schedule.
And finally, what do you think about MySpace.com? Everyone is talking about Myspace and artists are getting tons of exposure on it. I like the fact that it's easy to post new songs there but it feels strange to post new material there before I post it here. If you have an opinion, leave it on my guestbook, I'm curious. And, unless I hear otherwise, check out the latest Pete Miser music (including a free download) at www.myspace.com/petemiser.

I know, I know, I haven't updated my site since, like, early December! What's my problem? Well, to start out with, I moved. Goodbye, Greenpoint. Hello Fort Greene. Still Brooklyn. Still Green(e) but no internet access yet. Thanks for stopping by. Let's get you all caught up!
First of all, MASSIVE THANKS to everyone who showed support, love and votes for our MTV2 performance. I know it's old news at this point but for those who didn't get to check us, we came in 3rd out of 170 independent bands in the Dew Circuit Breakout. Playing live on national television was crazy fun as was seeing our pretty faces on the big screen in Times Square. We got tons of exposure and made a bunch of new connections. Thanks to our new friends, Tub Ring, Hello Goodbye and everyone at MTV2!
From small screen to big screen...
Last year I teamed up with Duncan Sheik to score a documentary film called "Through The Fire" about Brooklyn basketball player, Sebastian Telfair. The film follows him through his tumultuous senior year in high school before he was drafted to the Portland Trailblazers. It was one of the most gratifying projects I worked on last year and it is a beautiful and inspiring film. If you are in L.A., Portland, Boston or New York, please make it a point to support this amazing movie as it debuts this week. You will be happy you saw it, I promise! Listings can be found here:
On that note, if you'd like to hear the original theme I wrote for Through The Fire, check out my MySpace music profile. MySpace.com enjoys so much web traffic among music fans that I'm posting new songs there first:
Sit tight for more music as I go back into hibernation and start working on my next album.

- You're invited to the show!
Calling all comrades...
It is on for real! For those who don't know, me and the fellas competed in a battle of the bands called the Dew Circuit Breakout on MTV2 last week. It was us and a band from New Jersey called Hidden In Plain View. Check it out, the home team won! We're goin' to the finals!
That means that three bands remain. All three bands will play live on MTV2 on Saturday Dec 10th. One band will be chosen as the winner by a combination of your votes and judges' decision. The winner will go on a national tour sponsored by MTV2, appear in a nationally promoted festival and make more MTV2 appearances. In other words, for an artist like me, this is the big break I've been hearing about since, like 1992!
For those of you who won't be at the show, watch it live on MTV2:

Here it is. Your homeboy, Pete Miser on national television! I know you're
wondering what I did to suddenly get so much love from the corporate music
behemoth. To be honest, I wonder too. Nevertheless, if they wanna shine
some light on the little guy, I'm down! Here's what it's all about:
WHAT:
MTV2 DEW CIRCUIT BREAKOUT
Six independent bands are introduced and compete in embarrassing reality tv
style "challenges" such as selling their cds to strangers and performing on
the street with borrowed instruments. The episode climaxes with a live
performance by each band. Three winning bands will go on to play live on
MTV2 on Dec 10. The band that wins the finals will go on a national tour,
play a nationally promoted festival and make further MTV2 appearances.
WHEN:
Round 1 airs Monday Nov. 28 at 9pm ET/6pm PT
The show will re-air on Tuesday Nov. 29 at
1:00 am ET
4:00 am ET
10:30 am ET
2:30 pm ET
WHY:
- 'Cause you will get to see me and my band claw our way through a host of
humiliating (and probably funny) situations
- 'Cause MTV2 will take you on a Pete Miser tour of Brooklyn!
- 'Cause you'll see Interviews with me about stuff I know nothing about!
- 'Cause you'll witness actual on camera male bonding between me and my
super human band mates!
- 'Cause dude, we rocked the house with our live show and you get to see it!
Look, I've been an independent artist for more than a decade now. It
suddenly dawned on me that this MTV2 show will be more exposure than nearly
everything else I've ever done combined. You aren't on my website because you heard my music on commercial radio.
Thanks for being one of those rare people who genuinely seeks out and
supports independent music. I wouldn't be able to rock a mic on camera if I
hadn't rocked a mic in front of you first.

Mark your calendar.
In addition to the full show, me and the fellas are scheduled for an in-store performance at Music Millennium on 23rd street the same day as the show. Also, I'll be broadcasting live from KBOO FM on Wednesday June 15th. It's the PeteMiser hometown invasion. Come get down with me! Check the dates section of my page for details.
Also of interest:
Aside from preparing for Portland, I've spent the bulk of my time working on a new album of remixes for reggae legend, Half Pint. This project has been a joy and it has allowed me to work with the incredibly talented likes of Maya Azucena, Coral, Miki Howard and the one and only Chuck D. Look for the album in early fall and check out your boy on the roots rock reggae flow!

THE REST OF THE TAKEOVER:
OK, so I'm finally accepting the fact that I'll never be a household name and have teenagers dressing like me unless I embrace the machine. For that reason, I'm turning over a new leaf and hitting you from all angles. My first published piece of writing in years will be hitting news stands this month in the pages of the debut issue of THEME Magazine. Sure, it's an interview so I didn't even have to come up with most of the words but it's an interview with DJ Qbert so it's worth the read. THEME magazine is the brainchild of John Lee who designed the Camouflage Is Relative cover and his design-hero wife, Jiae. Please check it out and tell all your friends about it!
As if that wasn't enough, my first published illustration in years can be found in the current issue of Mass Appeal magazine. Take a look at the "Duck Hunt" section where you can read about a relationship so horrible it'll even make yours look good! The illustration is in the same watercolor pen and ink style as those in the Camouflage Is Relative album cover.
Oh, so you thought I was done with my multi-media takeover? The update on the video includes my website being shut down for enjoying too much download traffic, Scent Of A Robot's inclusion in Paste Magazine's DVD sampler and approval for MTV 2 and MTVU! Maybe them teenagers are gonna start dressing like me after all!
As usual, thanks for being supportive of the nearsighted half-Asian North Brooklyn Hip Hop community. On behalf of, well...um, me, I extend my gratitude.

The Overview:
- “Scent Of A Robot” video premiere party Wed. Feb. 2
- Feb show at Southpaw TBA
- Mo’ love from the critics
Alright, alright, it’s officially ON! The video for Scent Of A Robot is finished and now, magically, people are e-mailing me from places that we haven’t even sent it yet. (How did it get on TV in England? Oh, I mean, on “the telly” in England?) If you haven’t seen it, go to the Show&Tell/Video of this site, click and go make some toast while it downloads! Again, I have to give props to UV Phactory for hooking it up. Brilliant
To kick off the promotion of this video, I am throwing a video premiere party at Sugar in Tribeca. Coincidence number one: Sugar is the first place I did a solo show in New York. Coincidence number two: The party is on my birthday, February 2.
Here are the reasons you are dropping everything to go:
- It’s free. You’re not broke but you’re almost broke! What else are you gonna do in NY for the same price as air?
- It’s early. Party starts at 7:30 done by 10:00, still time to go to the midnight polka rave that you’ve been looking forward to.
- Rheingold is hooking up the beer specials. (Remember, you’re not broke but you’re on a budget.)
- You get to see “Scent Of A Robot” on a big screen with videos from other independent New York artists
- DJ Karla Calderon (www.teknevision.com) will be rocking the wheels o’ steel.
- Brooklyn Industries and Mass Appeal Magazine will be lacing the first fifty people with some free stuff that will impress your friends.
- UV Phactory will be in the house to answer questions like, “how did you do that?” and “where did you find the guy who played Pete’s boss?”
Here are the details:

Wednesday February 2, 7:30 P.M. - 10:00 P.M.
Other news:

Look for your favorite half-Asian near-sighted independent m.c. at Southpaw in February. The date is still pending but, when it comes together it’ll be in the dates section of my site.
And, finally, Remix Magazine gave Camouflage Is Relative four and a half out of five stars in the January issue!! What do you know about that? You can read what they had to say here:

We’ll be showing videos from several independent New York artists including, Maya Azucena, the Roughstars and others. It is meant to be an informal fun hang and admission is free. Check the dates section of PeteMiser.com for details.
For your live hip hop fix, check out B.B. King’s on Wednesday January 19 where I’ll be opening up for Del Tha Funkee Homosapien. Four out of five hip hop heads agree that Hieroglyphics is one of the dopest crews of all time. Their ring leader, Del has been putting it down for more than a decade now. From Mistadobalina to Deltron 30/30 to the Gorillaz, Del has consistently been on the cutting edge of lyrical creativity. I’m excited to get to rock the same stage as him. Again, details are in the dates section of this site.
And, finally, look for positive reviews of Camouflage Is Relative in URB, XLR8R and CMJ monthly. The album is in the top twenty on the college radio hip hop charts. With your love, it’ll make it’s way into the consciousness of the rest of the country.
Thanks for checking out PeteMiser.com!

What up? Welcome and thanks for checking out the newly redesigned PeteMiser.com. RPM and I have been steady pushin’ pixels to bring you a more robust site. Please take a minute to poke around.
Features of the new PeteMiser.com include the Photo Gallery, Guestbook, and that radio on the right that plays beats made by yours truly! You can check out my latest video, “For You” in the Show & Tell Section and you can buy PeteMiser music and apparel in the store section. The site is brand new and probably still has some kinks to work out so, forgive me for the rough spots. If you find one, send an e-mail to bugs@petemiser.com so I can fix it!
Oh my god, oh my GAWD! The record, Camouflage Is Relative! It's done! And if I could quit squealing with the glee of an eight year old girl, I would be able to tell you that it's available right now on this very site. I'd tell you all about the crazy stuff I'm rappin' about on the album and the beats that make your grandma want to get her groove on (and she died in '87!) And in between giggles and joyful snorts, I'd tell you all of this so you can be the first one on your block to cop it! Genuine PeteMiser. Accept no substitutes!
Sooooooo, in celebration of the new album, me and the band are playing a long set of new music at the Mercury Lounge. Here are the details (or click here to see the flyer):
WHY:
- 'Cause all the bands are family. Family = Good Vibe!
- 'Cause we'll be playing an extra long set including tons of new songs!
- 'Cause you haven't gotten to see Maya Azucena perform lately!
- 'Cause the Roughstars got that grimy dirt rock funk!
- 'Cause L Maestro Presents will take you on a ride into the late night!
- 'Cause Brooklyn Industries will be giving away backpacks full of PeteMiser stuff to lucky audience members!
- 'Cause it'll be your first chance to buy the cd from me in person!

Also of interest, Your homie, PeteMiser is sneaking into your tv box! My Toothbrush video appeared on BET last month, Radio Free Brooklyn showed up in "The Family Bonds" on HBO and more television takeovers are in the works! Keep an ear out for familiar sounds from Ho-Made Media.
I wouldn't be doing this if you weren't listening. Thank you!
